Kennedy Democrats is a Pennsylvania statewide PAC devoted to electing Democrats outside Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. We are currently seeking interns to assist with our Finance, Communications, and Political programs. Applicants are considered on a rolling basis. The length of the internship is flexible. Interns will work closely with senior staff members on various tasks but will be expected to carry out independent projects as well. These positions will give interns many opportunities for experiential learning and personal growth. This is a great position for individuals interested in politics, government, or public policy looking to gain experience.

Intern duties are varied, but may include, (by internship type):

Finance Internship:

  • Providing logistical support to fundraising operations

  • Researching donors

  • Maintaining the fundraising database

  • Scoping out new fundraising opportunities

  • Assisting in event preparation

  • Assisting with call time program

Communications Internship:

  • Drafting content for social media and the website

  • Attending and taking photos at Kennedy Democrats events

  • Assisting in drafting content for printed materials

Political Internship:

  • Researching opportunities for political partnerships and engagement with other organizations

  • Creating briefings of target counties

  • Maintaining up-to-date calendar of upcoming political events

  • Researching candidates running for office

The qualifications for this internship are the following:

  • Strong organizational skills and work ethic

  • Strong writing ability

  • Ability to work well in groups

  • Strong interest in politics or government

  • Passion for progressive values

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Suite is mandatory

  • Knowledge of NGP/VAN is a plus but not required

  • Basic competency in graphic design for the communications internship is a plus but not required

Interns may elect to be compensated at $10 per hour or those currently enrolled at an educational institution may elect to obtain academic course credit. For unpaid interns receiving academic credit, Kennedy Democrats will ensure the internship is in compliance with the educational and work experience requirements in accordance with 5 CFR 362.204. Those receiving academic credit can elect to receive a transportation stipend for actual expenses incurred for parking and commuting.
